Glazed ceramics, in Art Nouveau colors. Statue of standing man in hat and dress with apron. One hand scattering seed (grain). The other hand holds the apron with the seed. Embossed pedestal, irregular shape. Signed on the pedestal - Mateju, the manufacturer's imprinted on the bottom and the original paper label. Josef Mateju, Ceramic factory Horni Briza. Czechoslovakia 1930 - 1950. Height 45 cm.


Josef Mateju (9.2. 1891 Kosmonosy - 9.6. 1967 Prague) sculptor and ceramist. Study: 1906 - 1910 Vocational School of Sculpture and Stonework in Horice prof. Václav Krch, 1913 - 1917 Academy of Fine Arts in Prague prof. Josef Myslbek. He exhibited in the years 1939, 1940, 1942 - Nation for his artists in Prague.
